Be STRONG in the Lord and the power of His might.

Our family desire is to be like a lamp on a lampstand shining forth for Christ. We pray that we can be a witness to those who don't know the Lord and an encouragement and blessing to those who do. Thank you for visiting the Strong family blog.

Creative Art

Maddeck got creative today when he was crafting.  I am impressed.

First Snow 2012

We don't have nearly the amount of snow we were hoping for.  The forecast called for 12" and we probably got just half of that.  I hear that Leavenworth has 14"-16" so we may have to head up there to go sledding soon.  It is really fun to have all three boys able to play in the snow together.  It is not so fun trying to get snow gear on three boys all at the same time.  Evan and Miles were both bawling their eyes out before we even got outside.  Thankfully, they snapped out of it and were able to enjoy themselves.

River Regents

Kingdoms Castle

We spent many hours building this castle.  Maddeck was so proud he wanted me to take some pictures.
Maddeck showing how the gate to the castle opens.
Showing the lever for the draw bridge.

There is the king on his throne.
 Catapult.
The guard with his cross bow.

Hanging out ...

Maddeck hanging out building bugs and drinking hot chocolate.  Thanks to Mimi and Papa for the insect book and Aunt Julie for the delish hot chocolate and snowman mugs!!  We love our afternoons at home.

Big Boy Bed

He put himself down for a nap this week.  Yessssssss!  I remember the other boys asking to take a nap but I am pretty sure they never went to bed completely on their own without telling me.
Kyle went to check on the boys last night and Miles was sort of sleeping in his bed.
It doesn't look very comfy but he was sound asleep.  Maybe Marshawn (his dog) and bunny were crowding his space.

Three Means

We are clean toothpaste tube people ... well Kyle and I certainly are.  Recently I have noticed that our tube of toothpaste is all messy.  I put 2 plus 3 together and realized that the boys have started to use our toothpaste.  We are no longer clean toothpaste tube people.

Did you know ...

Laura: Did you know that you have had 3 birthdays and I have had 31?!
Evan: Does that make your tummy hurt?
Laura: Why would 31 birthdays make my tummy hurt?
Evan: Because that is a lot of cake.

Miles is a big boy.

Miles is looking and acting more like a big boy.  He has thirteen teeth and brushes them in the morning all by himself.  He had his first haircut, which he asked Kyle to give him. Crazy, right?  Last night he went to sleep in his toddler bed by choice.  He can run really fast and loves to wrestle with his brothers.  He sleeps with his favorite stuffed animal every night ("Bu-tee", bunny) and carries it around the house with him.  He is a milk-a-holic and wants a cup of milk all the time (he is actually asking me for "millllll" right now).  We practically have to force him to drink water.  He loves orange tick-tacs and we give him a couple when he does well at the store or whenever the rest of the family chews gum.  He loves to play with his "choo-choo" trains.  He walks around on his tippy toes too much, just like Maddeck does.  He gets into everything and you can't take your eyes off him for more than a moment or two or he will be dumping out an entire bin of little Legos or putting Kyle's hairbrush in the toilet.  He writes on the furniture with markers and rips up coloring pages.  I organize the bookshelf and come back a few minutes later to a pile of books on the floor.  He wakes up saying "Mommy" and will say it one hundred times in a row until I come in the room.  I can't talk any sense into him when he is upset, but Kyle definitely can.  He runs to Kyle when he gets home from work and loves to be held by him.  I can't believe we are heading out of the baby stage forever.  I look forward to it with Miles and at the same time dread the thought of him getting older.  I still call him "babes" and probably will for quite some time.

Concussion

Maddeck has a concussion.  He was running through the kitchen with his new SmartWool socks and slipped backwards and hit his head.  Kyle saw him fall but didn't think it looked too bad.  A couple minutes later Maddeck started crying because he felt dizzy and couldn't see correctly. I told him to go lay down in his room and he fell down on his way to his room.  He started talking funny and wasn't able to answer any of our questions.  He just would say "I don't know" to just about everything and then start crying.  He couldn't do addition or tell us his favorite color.  He couldn't focus his eyes on how many fingers we were holding up and didn't know where his room was, etc.  Kyle called the doctor and recommended that we take him to the ER if his symptoms worsened.  After going back and forth we decided to stay home.  He woke up a couple times in the night crying and complaining of a headache.  We knew he was thinking more clearly when we asked him who his best buddy is and he said "Caed".  He woke up this morning feeling much better.  He can go back to school tomorrow but he can't play at recess until next week. The real danger is re-injuring his head while he is healing from his concussion.  We are so thankful it was not more serious and that he is getting back to normal.  It was scary to see him so out of sorts and clearly not able to think normally.  He is BORED out of his mind today.  No TV, no reading, no horseplay with his brothers, and lots of rest is what he needs.  He has been coloring, cutting, gluing, and playing Legos today, but it is hard to keep him from running all over the house.  His response to the rules for today "Oh no! No running or jumping ... can I skip? Will you call the doctor and see if it is okay if I watch Spiderman?

Sleeping on the couch with his head in hand after his concussion.

This afternoon Caed and Courtney stopped by with a Get Well Soon balloon for Maddeck and some stickers.  Maddeck gave Caed a big hug and said thank you.  It looked like he was about to cry he was so happy to see his friend.  It was so sweet.

I knew he was on the mend when he drew a picture with excellent motor skills this morning ...
