Maddeck: "Mom, where are the destructions for how to draw a turkey?"
Me: "Instructions show you how to do something. Destruction is destroying something."
Maddeck: "I am looking for the instructions then."
Be STRONG in the Lord and the power of His might.
Our family desire is to be like a lamp on a lampstand shining forth for Christ. We pray that we can be a witness to those who don't know the Lord and an encouragement and blessing to those who do. Thank you for visiting the Strong family blog.

Cursive
He wanted to know how to write his name in cursive. I wrote it down to show him and he copied it. Then he wanted to write a letter to Jordan in cursive.

Tired
We were getting tired of getting up with Miles at all hours of the night. He just kept waking up and was not sleeping well in his big boy bed. He is now sleeping well again in his pack n play. We are continually surprised by how different each of or boys are. What worked for one doesn't work for another. One boy at a time. One personality at a time. I sure am enjoying the less interrupted sleep (less meaning one, two, or three boys usually need to wake me up for something during the night). I think I was only up once last night which is a lot better than a dozen times.

Turkey
Maddeck learned how to draw a turkey at school. He drew one for our family after school today. Isn't it adorable? I love being a Mom, especially a stay-at-home one!

Pilgrims and Indians
The boys and I have been reading the book Squanto at home. Squanto was a young Indian from Massachusetts that was a friend of the Pilgrims. Maddeck has been learning about Pilgrims and Indians, including Squanto, at school over the past week. Today he came home with a cute little canoe the class had made out of construction paper. We decided to make our own little Indian village scene at home during Miles' nap. They worked so hard for most of the afternoon on their projects. We read a few more chapters of Squanto and both boys are really enjoying the book.
Look at Maddeck's deer! He told me Mrs. Patterson taught him how to draw them.
a little sample ...
A little sample of song from The River Academy. The kids went to an assisted living facility today and sang for the residents. It was pretty much the cutest thing I have ever seen in my life.
Turkey song for Thanksgiving. "When the cooks came around we couldn't be found and that's why we are here you see."
The 1st and 2nd graders sang songs about the English language rules for sentences, how the earth spins on an axis and causes day and night, and rules for mathematics. I recorded all of them so I can teach them to Maddeck and the other boys in the future. Classical education is so amazing. I can't believe how much they have learned in such a short period of time.

We Give Thanks
Yesterday we started our Thanksgiving Tree. We are thanking God by recording our thanksgivings on leaves. I have been recording thanks/gifts in a journal and I thought this would be a great way for our family to do the same. It will be dramatic to see the tree completely full of thanks by Thanksgiving day.

On & Off
Miles has discovered light switches. He pushes a chair over to a light switch and climbs up. On and off, on and off ... I hope the fascination wears off quickly.

how is this possible?
Miles does not like grilled cheese sandwiches. He would rather skip lunch and go hungry than eat grilled cheese. How is this possible? If I didn't know different I would think there is no way he is related to me. I eat cheese every. single. day.
