Be STRONG in the Lord and the power of His might.

Our family desire is to be like a lamp on a lampstand shining forth for Christ. We pray that we can be a witness to those who don't know the Lord and an encouragement and blessing to those who do. Thank you for visiting the Strong family blog.

Sleep Walker

Maddeck is officially a sleep walker. He has been having some night terrors and we will hear him crying in his bed or standing somewhere in his room babbling about something and crying. We put him back in bed and he calms down and falls back into a regular sleep without waking up. Recently, Kyle went in to take him the bathroom and he wasn't in his room. We found him sleeping in our bed. We didn't hear him get up and the bed was nice and warm so he had clearly been sleeping there for awhile. He may look just like his Dad, but he has some Head in him!! My Dad, brothers, and I are all sleep walkers and talkers. Poor Maddeck ... sleep walking can be exhausting! I think we will have some fun sleep walking stories to tell over the coming years.

Getting Bigger

I took Miles to his two week check-up and he has grown. He now weighs 10lbs 7 oz. and has grown an inch and a half since birth to 21 1/2 inches. I can't believe how big he is! He is already outgrowing (or outgrown) his newborn clothing. He is 89 percentile for weight and 74 percentile for height. I looked back at Evan to see how they compare and Evan was much smaller at two weeks. Evan was 9lbs. 7 oz (65%)\ and 21 1/2" (71%). I looked back at Maddeck and I don't have record from his 2 week appointment. I will see if I can get a copy next time I go in to the clinic. What a blessing it is to have healthy, thriving, and growing boys. Thank you Lord!! Our friends from church have a boy that is over a year old that is failing to thrive and has had to use a feeding tube. They are not sure what is wrong with him and have seen all the specialists at Childrens Hospital. I am thankful we have been given proper perspective and can truly appreciate the gift of healthy kids.

Singing

Evan has been singing. He sings all the time and usually to the tune of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star/ABC's. He sings when he is coloring, playing outside, and lately every night in his bed while he is trying to fall asleep. I keep going in their room and reminding Ev to be quiet and go to sleep. Thankfully the singing hasn't seemed to bother Maddeck as he is trying to fall asleep. It is pretty cute!

Room Makeover

I mentioned in a previous post that my Mom and Aunt Julie took me shopping and we picked out fabrics for redoing the boys' room. I spent the day at my parent's house and my mom got the new duvet cover sewn for the crib/future toddler bed for Miles and his throw pillow. She already completed the throw pillows for Maddeck and Evan. I just need to do the memory boards and paint a few decorations for the room and everything will be ready. I'll post some pictures when the room is finished. It is still going to be awhile, but I was so excited, I decided to post about it. It is going to be sooooo great. I can't seem to get away from animal themes.

Baby Maddeck had a frog room (I wanted whales but couldn't find any fabric). I ended up really happy with his room because he had a cute leaf canopy over her crib that wouldn't have worked otherwise.

When baby Evan was on the way we changed everything out for a monkey room. Mom made a duvet cover for Maddeck's toddler bed and recovered the bumper with matching fabric. The cute green leaf got to stay because it went with the jungle/palm leaves on the new fabric.

Now that baby Miles is here I wanted something that would work for all three boys, who will eventually be sharing our much larger room. We came up with a very cute, but not too babyish, OWL fabric. The cute green leaf gets to stay in the new room! I love the throw pillows with their first initial on them. They look like they came straight out of a baby boutique. My Mom did an awesome job. I love that she knows how to sew and can make what I have visualized in my mind.

Miles will be two weeks old tomorrow and I have a lingering headache that I can't kick. Sleep deprivation is setting in. I am looking forward to tomorrow night when Kyle will give Miles his first bottle and I will get my first solid chunk of sleep. Wooo Hooo for tomorrow. I get to go to bed with the older boys between 7 and 8 PM and I won't get up to feed the tiny boy until he wakes up for his next feeding, which has been between and 2 and 3 AM this week. Have I mentioned how amazing Miles is? He has yet to cry in the night. He wakes up, I feed him, change him (if needed), wrap him up, put him back in his bed, and he goes right back to sleep without crying. He TOTALLY rocks. He is one of those infants that you hear people talk about, but you have no idea how it is possible. I hope he keeps this up.

First Outing

I went on my first outing today with all three boys. Success! I went to the Coffee Cabin because they were doing free drinks today and met my friend Lisa and her two older kids. It was so nice to get out and tackle that first outing doing something fun. We stopped at Target on the way home to get some things and the boys did awesome. Maddeck wanted to ride in the cart but settled for walking and riding on the front of the cart. Miles was in the basket. Evan was in the seat of the cart. Easy Peasy!! A woman in the store said "WOW, you are a busy woman. You must be getting a really big Mother's Day card this year!"

Saturday with the Strongs

We love Saturday mornings. Saturday mornings are all about hanging out in our PJs and having big breakfast. On Miles first Saturday morning of life the boys came in our room and climbed in bed with us. It was so fun. I realized that our family is so big now that we don't all fit in our bed. We will cherish this time with our tiny boys.

First Photos

Here are some of the first photos we have taken of little Miles. So far we have come up with strikes on anything cute of all three boys. We'll get one sooner or later.

Breaking Bread

Maddeck this morning while eating his toast.

"Look Dad I am breaking my bread ... just like God."

Good Morning

Sweet Miles on his first morning of life with his first hiccups.

Miles Timothy

We are so pleased to announce the arrival of Miles Timothy. He was born Saturday, April 3rd weighing 9lbs and measuring 20" long. Our boys came at breakfast (Maddeck 9:26 AM), lunch (Evan 12:38 PM), and dinner (Miles 4:25 PM) in that order. Miles is a sweet boy with dimples and blue eyes. He seems to have a mild disposition at this point. He had his first doctor appointment this morning and the doctor says he looks perfect and strong. However, we were so disappointed and sad to find out that his right collar bone is broken from birth. Apparently, it has already begun to heal and should be completely healed within 2 weeks. It makes me so sad though. I am almost 30 years old and have never broken a bone. He is three days old and already his little body is experiencing pain. He hasn't been sleeping very well and it is more then likely a result from the pain of his broken bone. Miles means soldier and he is proving to be one already. We'll post some more pictures a little later. Nap time is calling ...
