"Stater"
Me: "A police man only pulls people over when they are not obeying the law."
Maddeck: "Would they pull you over if you were going too slow, or just too fast"
Me: "If you go too fast or too slow, they may pull you over because you are not following the rules of the road."
Maddeck: "Like when Dad got pulled over when we went to Bright's house and he told him to slow down?"
Me: "Yep, he told us to slow down but he was gracious to us and did not give us a ticket?"
Maddeck: "What is a ticket for?"
Me: "A ticket is like discipline. When we disobey we may have to be disciplined, which could mean paying money for doing the wrong thing. We always try and obey but sometimes we make a mistake."
I hope Maddeck can recall this conversation when he starts driving someday!!!!

2/$5
Maddeck: "Those are two for five dollars Mom"
Me: "How did you know what the sign means?"
Maddeck: [shrugs his shoulders and smiles]
Maybe I have been reading those signs aloud while shopping and he picked up on it or maybe he just figured out what / and $ mean. Either way, I was impressed.

Sickness
Maddeck is a sweet boy. I feel terrible and can hardly do anything, but Maddeck found a way to brighten my day. He somehow made me feel like I do so much and that those things just won't get done without me. He made me feel appreciated. I don't get much thanks from the boys because they are so young. Maddeck basically just said "thank you".

Thankful
(I love how Maddo feels safe and secure and knows that we love each other very much. People don't give kids enough credit when it comes to their understanding of relationships. I made sure to tell Maddeck that the Lord has blessed us and that Maddeck giving thanks for our marriage was pleasing to God. I love that boy.)
Kyle and I were talking the other night and I mentioned the possibility of moving. Maddeck piped in from the other room ... "I want to move to heaven!" (If only heaven was hiring financial advisors. Haha!)
I also want to thank our friends and family for all their support as we have joined the unemployment pool. The Lord has provided for us in all ways and we are confident that another job will come about. We are praying for the right job and if possible a job that will keep us here at home in the Wenatchee Valley. We are being realistic and know that this process could be very long. May the Lord provide us with the endurance to remain patient and faithful as we wait. We are in good hands! : )

I'm New!
Laura: "Maddeck you are getting so old."
Maddeck: "I'm not old ... I'm new."
"I am just praying to the Lord that he would change Ev's bad attitude." (Evan was ready for dinner and walking around the kitchen crying when he said this)
"Lord thank so much for our new van and for selling the Subaru." (His prayer before breakfast the day we sold our Subaru)

Pavlov's Dog
When Maddeck is sent to a time out we set the timer on the microwave. When he hears the beep his time out is over and he says "Can I get up?". We sit down with him and talk about the reason he had a time out. He will apologize or ask for forgiveness (usually for hitting his brother or not listening or obeying Mom and Dad) and then we pray together. This evening I was preparing dinner. I had the timer going for what was on the stove. Maddeck was playing in the kitchen when the timer went off. He immediately said "Can I get up?" I looked at him and started giggling. "What did you say?" He smiled and realized that he was not in a time out. The beep on the microwave has trained him to ask to get up. Too funny!
Maddeck Quotes:
Fire apartment (Fire Department)
Talker Bells (Taco Bell)
I goed there, I comed home, I drinked it all, etc. (we need to work with him a bit on tense)
Swimming:
I have taken Maddo swimming the last two days and he has made huge progress. He didn't want to be in the water unless I was holding him or he was secure in a floatation device. After about an hour he said he was ready to go under water. He went under several times and then was ready to jump in from the side of the pool. He would jump and go all the way under and then I would pull him up. He would then try and swim to the ladder with my hand under his tummy so he would not sink. Today he was happy to get in the water right away. He jumped in many times. We did bobs on the side of the pool and he would blow bubbles and put his head under water while pulling himself up and down out of the water. We also used a kick board and practiced his flutter kicks which he liked the best today. He would hold onto the board and kick his legs and could see that he was being propelled forward. I could sense his feeling of accomplishment. We have decided not to put him in lessons until he is more comfortable in the water. I think he will be ready next year and I look forward to working with him as much as I can this summer to get him acclimated to being in the water and feeling safe. I am so proud of him because I know water is scary for him.

"I'm Your Boy"
"Mom ... I'm your boy and I love you."
"Dad ... I'm your boy and I love you."
"I love Evie too."
Oh I forgot to mention in my post about Evan that he is also standing alone. He does not try to walk without holding on to something but he will stand alone for quite some time. I think he stood alone for about 30 seconds today. You can see it on his face that he is feeling very accomplished by his new skill. He gets excited and waves his hands around in joy. It is pretty fun to watch.

Haircut

Maddeck has been getting really wiggly when we try to cut his neckline at the end of his haircut. He was able to watch Word World and eat popcorn if he was able to sit still. He ended up (after a struggle) sitting still and allowing Kyle to trim. He was so excited! He enjoyed an entire bowl of popcorn, and entire bowl of green beans (he just thought they sounded good), and ice water with his show that he watched on the computer.
Some new Maddeck Quotes I thought I would share ...
Maddeck: "I love Grace. She is such a cute girl."
Mom: "What do you think Evan will call you when he starts talking?" "Will he have a nickname for you?" Maddo: "I think he should call me Little Bear or Goosey" (Interesting and cute choices ... I guess that is why kids don't pick their own nicknames. They just sort of happen.)
Maddeck: "Mom I am sorry that I poop in my pants ... I will poop in the potty next time." (This makes my heart melt. He is so sweet.)
Maddeck: "I am gonna be the wedding bearer at Jesica's wedding."
Maddeck: "I want to wear my Tebas (Tevas) today."
Maddeck: "Blueblerry and strawburry smoovie" (he loves smoothies he just can't pronounce it)

Maddeck Quotes
Mom: Yes they do.
Maddeck: When I see a cow I will say "thank you for making milk cow" and the cow will say ... "sure". Then I will pet the cow and say "bye cow" and then we can go home. Does that sound like a deal Mom?
Mom: I love you Maddeck. (What else can you really say?)
You would think that he would know how to say this one since G'ma Cindi has one.
Maddeck: Look a rotorhome (motorhome).
