Kyle was about to feed Evan his bottle and he saw him holding it and he freaked out. He started saying Da-Da-Da-Da-Da and crying because he was ready for his milk. Coincidence? I don't think so ... it sure seems liked he was calling out for his Dad.
oh ... Evan is sick with the cold, not croup, just the yucky cold virus we are all trying to kick.
Be STRONG in the Lord and the power of His might.
Our family desire is to be like a lamp on a lampstand shining forth for Christ. We pray that we can be a witness to those who don't know the Lord and an encouragement and blessing to those who do. Thank you for visiting the Strong family blog.

Signing & More

Check out that drool covered shirt
Evan has used the sign for 'more' two times. It is so cute to see him trying to communicate with us with sign language. He also does the sign for milk, but it does not seem to be intentional. Evan also loves to wave hello and good-bye to us and roll his hands. Whenever we say "roll it" he rolls his hands. He is loving his mobility and is constantly on the move and standing against the furniture. He still hasn't taken any steps on his own. No new teeth to report yet either, but he sports a drool drenched shirt most of the time. He is growing up so fast and just turned 9 months old last week. It is hard to believe that we are less than 3 months from his first birthday already. WOW!

Croup
We are all cooped up with Maddeck's croup. (I just realized I haven't posted anything for a long time). I took him to the doctor yesterday and they prescribed a steroid to help him breath. His throat is really irritated and inflamed which restricts the airflow. He has been sick for six days now and the symptoms normally only last seven to ten days. We opted not to give him the medication and thought the side effects may outweigh the pros. He had a rough night again, but better than the previous two. He is just sooooo tired. He hasn't slept well at night or taken any naps since he became sick last week. Last night he slept from 3AM to 7AM without waking up which was huge! Hopefully we will see some improvement in his symptoms soon. I am now sick as well but for adults it can be a dry cough and laryngitis; not air restriction and uncontrollable coughing. So far, Evan seems fine and slept for an entire 12 hours last night without making a peep. Evan has trouble sleeping from time to time especially while teething so it was great to have him sleep last night in case sickness may be coming on for him. We are just praying our tiny one doesn't catch it because it will be even harder for him being so young.
With that said, we have been home ALL the time. We sold our dining room furniture on craigslist, painted the dining room (pretty sure it had not been painted since the 80s, so gross), ripped out the carpet and pad, and installed new hardwood floors. The room is totally transformed and we are so excited to enjoy our new room. We still need to install baseboard and buy new furniture. The boys have loved running and crawling around in the big empty room though. It is so clean and nice. I LOVE it!! I am surfing the web looking for new furniture that will work in the space and is affordable. Thankfully we have money from the set we sold to work with. Will post pictures when it is completed.

Jordan's Graduation
Maddeck with his Uncle Jordan! He and his friends wore ski goggles under their grad caps.
Look at the camera Maddo ...
Cheese ... one out of three is not too bad I guess.
Ella was telling him something really exciting.
Here are some pics from my little brother's graduation. Maddeck enjoyed playing with his cousins at graduation and the firework show. Cascade High School graduation are actually fun. Since Leavenworth is a tourist town, there are so many opportunites for fundraising at festivals. Normally, every class has thousands of $$ to spend on an awesome firework show for graduation. We normally skip firework shows on the 4th of July because the homecoming and graduation shows at the high school are so much better. We knew the fireworks would spook Evan so the McDevitts babysat him for us and the three of us went with the rest of my family. We had a good time.
Too Cute
Chillin' in the wagon.
Going for a ride.
Grace and Maddeck drawing rainbows on the sidewalk.
Evan sitting in the sprinkler. He liked getting a little wet.
It is just too cute when Grace wears Maddeck's clothes. It has only happened a couple times. The other day she was over and the kids wanted to run in the sprinkler. We put Maddeck's swim trunks and swim shirt on her and it was adorable. She can totally pull of the tom-boy look and still look like a darling little girl. I could never have done that when I was little because I was confused for a boy even when I was wearing a dress.Wednesday, June 3, 2009
Teeth
Evan just got his first tooth. Yippee! We have been waiting and waiting and finally his bottom left has arrived. He is looking forward to being able to chew on tastier things like cheerios now. He has been gumming things for a while but has had a tough time without teeth. Maddeck had both his bottom up and his tops coming in at Evan's age.
Evan has also officially started dancing. He was swaying to the sound of the kitchen aid mixer yesterday. He loves the toy piano and pulls himself up to the standing position and pushes the buttons and starts dancing. He is so cute standing with his stout little body. He is also pulling himself up on anything and everything now. He is moving quickly in the army crawl. Although, he can get up on all fours he prefers the army crawl right now. It is hard to believe he will be 9 months old soon. The summer months always go by so fast too. Before we know it we will be celebrating his first birthday. He has done and seen so many things in the first 9 months of his life. He has already been to Mexico and seen the Pacific ocean, he has been to the Arizona desert, seen the Grand Canyon from flight (he actually loved looking out the window on the plane), been to the Washington coast, flown out of Pangborn Airport in Wenatchee (Mt. Rainier is breathtaking on that flight), been to the Seattle Aquarium (which was my first time as well). He has also experienced three of the four seasons here at home. I am looking forward to his first summer and floating the river. Bring on the summer heat.

Arizona Trip
We returned home on Monday from our family trip in Arizona. Kyle's sister Jesica was having her destination wedding at the Westin La Paloma resort in Tucson. It was amazing. It was a busy five days filled with time with family and time to play. The wedding was gorgeous and the reception was perfect. We enjoyed the music and food and great conversations. It made me want to marry Kyle again. Weddings are so much fun. Maddeck was the ring bear (aka ring thrower). He froze walking down the aisle and decided to throw the rings to Steve rather than walk to the front. Kyle basically had to drag him down the aisle. Not what we rehearsed, but you can't control how a three year old is going to handle himself with all eyes on him. If any of you truly know Maddeck, you know how timid he can be. Check out some of the pics from the trip. They are not in order. I will post some more pics from the wedding later.
Enjoying ourselves at the wedding reception.
Maddeck before the wedding. Can you see the fear in his eyes?
Grand Canyon on our flight home.
Listening to his music on the ipod on the flight home.
"Look, I made a 'P' out of my pretzel!"
Looking up at the bubbles he was blowing.
Hanging by the pool in Phoenix.
Playing in the grass during the pre-wedding photo session.
Prickly Pear Cactus - my favorite. There is a little bee on that yellow bloom.
Evan loved the pool.
Ev and Maddo playing by the pool.
Kyle and his sister Jesica (the beautiful bride).
Happy Evan sitting in his stroller under the misters by the pool. It felt so nice.
Riding in the tram. Me, Evan, Maddeck (he looks like he is going to melt), Adam, and Kyle.
