Be STRONG in the Lord and the power of His might.
Our family desire is to be like a lamp on a lampstand shining forth for Christ. We pray that we can be a witness to those who don't know the Lord and an encouragement and blessing to those who do. Thank you for visiting the Strong family blog.

Junior Ridge to River
Maddeck competed in his first race over the weekend. There were five kids on his team. The legs of the race included basketball dribble, run, paddle, bike, and obstacle course. Maddeck did the biking leg and he did so great. Part of the biking course was in the grass and it was tough for him. Kyle ran along side him to encourage him and push the back of his bike if he got stuck in the grass. He pushed him two times to keep his momentum going. It was fun for the whole family to cheer on the team. Afterwards, the big boys got to play on the obstacle course for an hour! It normally costs quite a bit of money to play on inflatables for a few minutes so we got more than our race fee worth. Miles watched all the kids playing and really wanted into the bounce house. With his recent fracture there was no way he could play. We finished the afternoon with pizza and the whole family took a nap. We accidentally slept from 3:00 to 5:20 PM. WHOOPS! We put the boys to bed at 9:00 PM but poor Maddeck didn't fall asleep until midnight.

Field Day
Maddeck had his first field day today. I was so thankful that my Mom watched Evan and Miles so I could help out with shuffling the boys to their events. The day was beautiful and it was adorable to watch his first competitive events (T-ball doesn't really count since there is never a winner and they don't throw outs). He got third in the frisbee throw which was his best event. He did long jump, shot put, three-legged race, 50 yard, 100 yard, and 200 yard races. We ran out of time and they weren't able to do the knapsack race (boo!). The River Academy took first in 3 out of the 4 relay races. It was a fun day!
Getting ready for the long jump.
Mimi and the boys watching the frisbee throw.
Turning in his third place card for the frisbee throwing.
Waiting in line after the three-legged race.
Cheering on TRA relay teams.
Hydrating.
Jesse sat in the back with the boys on the way home. Maddeck clearly thought it was really cool to have a guy that is 6'4" crammed in the back seat.
High Honors
Well deserved for Kyle's 3.8+ grade point average. Have I mentioned how proud I am of his diligence, endurance, and work ethic? I am so excited to see him walk at graduation. One more class to go to complete his degree, but it feels like we are already finished.
Bag of Kindergarten
We are approaching the end of the school year. I am feeling so sad that Maddeck is growing up. He has learned so much this year and I honestly can't believe he is almost a first grader. We are praying about school for next year. He will either go back to The River Academy or become a home-schooler. We both want him back at TRA but the financial commitment is great for us. At this point, we are looking at work options for me to bring in additional income for our family. My dream would be to work at the school so I can have hands-on involvement in our boys education and be connecting to the community of families at the school. It is hard to believe that in two years Miles will be in Kinder-Prep and Evan will be in Kindergarten. In two short years we will have all our boys in school. WHAT!?!? We'll take it year-by-year. For now, I am just clinging to every day he has left as a Kindergartner.

Mother's Day Picnic
I made a yummy lunch and we sat under our birch tree for lunch today. The weather was perfect and I was with my favorite people in the whole world. Ev and Miles went down for their naps and Maddeck and I read magazines and listened to music for almost two hours in the yard. It was so nice to spend one on one time with Maddeck. After naps we were all outside working in the yard and the boys and I planted zinnia seeds while Kyle mowed the yard. Beautiful day.

So long cast
Update: We arrived at the clinic and walked to the front desk (meanwhile my phone starts ringing in my purse). The woman at the desk says "I am so sorry we tried to get in touch with you. Miles needs to keep his cast on for another week. We tried calling you." I told her we wanted to take the cast off and use a splint if his leg was still bothering him. She insisted that we wait and handed me an appointment card for next week. I was fuming when we left. I should have asked to talk to the doctor because he told us we could use a splint instead of the cast originally. I told the woman at the desk that the doctor gave us the option of a cast or splint two weeks ago so we could probably just take the cast off. She insisted that she had a long conversation with the doctor and that we needed to keep the cast on. She didn't even ask me what time I could come in for the appointment! My Mom came down to our house to watch the boys, I picked Kyle up from work early, and we told Miles he was getting his cast off so it was not convenient. They called our house two minutes before the appointment to reschedule for next week. My mom was calling my cell phone to tell me they had called as soon as we arrived. It was a hassle for all of us and so very frustrating. I think I just really really really wanted Miles to be able to bend his leg and take a shower again.
The cast comes off tomorrow!! I miss seeing his cute little leg. We all miss bath time. I have been "bathing" him with wet wash cloths and baby wipes.

Grandparent's Day
Maddeck made this card to mail out last week. I didn't know which set of grandparents to mail it to so I scanned it for all to see. Grandparents Day is this Friday at The River Academy. Grandparents are welcome in the classroom between 8:00-10:45 AM. There is an assembly for the whole school and all the grandparents at 11:00 AM. Per Maddeck's request we will be going to Red Robin for lunch after school like we did last Grandparents Day.
