Be STRONG in the Lord and the power of His might.

Our family desire is to be like a lamp on a lampstand shining forth for Christ. We pray that we can be a witness to those who don't know the Lord and an encouragement and blessing to those who do. Thank you for visiting the Strong family blog.

More Chompers

Miles has his upper right tooth.  Yahoo for new chompers.  Those front teeth are going to be handy with all the new foods we are feeding him.  He is loving chicken and ground turkey even though it is hard to chomp with only two bottom teeth.  We gave him some pepperoni pizza last week which he really liked.  He also loves string cheese.  He had a few tastes of frozen yogurt last week when we were at Costco!  He is still having baby food regularly and will eat two containers of baby food in one sitting along with finger foods.  We try and feed him a little of whatever we are having at meal times.  This morning he had fresh strawberries and yogurt with the rest of us.  He is growing up (sniff, sniff).  I can't believe he will be one in less than two months.

Sea Life

 Shark and seaweed.
Dolphin. The red is the sunset sky.
Angler fish!  See the light in front?  Look at the sharp teeth!

We have some books called Draw Write Now that teaches the steps to draw all kinds of animals.  Maddeck is getting the hang of it.  I am so impressed with his recent work.  He just looks at the picture in the book and follows the step by step instructions.  He LOVES writing and drawing.  He drew the dolphin and angler fish at fellowship group this week and he proudly put them on the fridge for display.  This morning I asked if they were his drawings or his 7 year old friend Katherine's drawings!  I had no idea it was even his work.  He always says he wants to be an artist like his Uncle Jordan.

Puppets

The boys made puppets today with their friend Grace.  Aren't they cute?  So far crafting Thursdays are going well. The boys look forward to it and I do too.  Not sure what I will plan for next week ...

Ouch

Evan hurt his finger and it was bleeding.  I went to get a band aid for him and he started crying because he didn't want one.  Meanwhile, Maddeck started crying because he wanted a band aid, but didn't need one.  I have one crying because he doesn't want one and the other crying because he does .  Since Evan was freaking out I offered Maddeck his shark band aid.  He stopped crying.  Evan decided he really wanted the shark band aid too and began crying even harder.  I found Evan a matching shark band aid.  All the crying stopped. Whew!

Signing

Miles did the sign for "finished" this morning when he was finished with his breakfast.  Yahoo Miles!  His new skill may prevent so much food from being thrown on the floor.

Baby Steps

Miles took five steps yesterday!  He just turned 10 months old.  We'll see if he takes off this weekend with his new skill.

Ounces

Maddeck told me that he drank 3 ounces of water at school today.  I thought it was a funny thing to say since they don't measure their water at school and he drinks more than that.  How did he know that liquid is measured in ounces?

Bird Craft

 Maddeck's nest.
Evan's nest.

This is a craft we did with friends.  We got all the little kiddos together for brunch and crafting.  We used elmer's glue to make the nest design and then sprinkled birdseed on the glue.  There are six Moms in our group and twelve kids (8 boys and 4 girls).  We are planning to get the kids together on a semi regular basis to spend time together.  My friend Olivia hosted us and supplied all the materials (including cutting out all the birds and the verse) for our craft.  Thanks Livie!

Helper

I was the helper in Maddeck's classroom twice this week.  Yah!  I really like being in the classroom and seeing all the cool things he is learning.  I took a few pics today.  (Thanks Mom for watching Evan and Miles for me.  I appreciate you so much.)

100 Pieces

He is getting good.  Mimi and I gave him good tips, but he put the entire puzzle together by himself.

Rub a Dub Dub...

...Three men in a tub...

Yep, we went on a date!

Yep.  It is true.  We went on an overnight date.  Kyle has an annual employee appreciation party for his work and we decided to take advantage of the opportunity.  Our good friends offered to stay at our house and watch all three boys for us.  Thanks Wilkinsons!!!  Before the party we went to lunch and then hit up the Chelan Lanes for three games of bowling.  I bowled the best game of my life at 165!!  Kyle smoked me in the first game and I took games two and three.  Kyle was the victor with a overall score of 412.  It was so much fun to spend time doing something new together.  Kyle is a great bowler.  He even won a free game when he got a strike when there was a special orange pin that showed up.  Guess we will have to go on another date sometime!!  After bowling we went to the party then went back to our condo on the lake and stayed up late watching a movie.  Later we wondered why we stayed up SO late when we should have caught up on sleep. In the morning we went to breakfast and then came home to an empty house (clean too, thanks Court), as the Wilkinsons were at church with the boys.  It was so weird to be at home during the day in a clean and quiet house.  We watched an episode of The Office and took a nap.  It was perfect.  I had not been away from Miles yet and we had not been away from the other boys for a year.  I missed them but know it is healthy and good to have a break.
There is the proof of my best game and our scores for three games.
just one of many

Cs are Ts

"Tome look!" is what we hear from Evan every time he goes potty and wants us to come look.  All of his C sounds are pronounced as T sounds.  He was singing "There are no tats in Amerita ... " from a movie he watched recently.  It is so cute.
This is Ev's first potty star chart.  He got bored with sticking a star in each box so he started making a pile of stars in one spot.  There is probably 15 stars stacked up on one square.  I have since made him a new chart that looks like a train track and he is using Toy Story 3 stickers.  He is doing well with his potty training and goes without being prompted.  In fact, if I ask him to the use the potty he won't go.  It pretty much needs to be his idea.  The first time he went #2 he came running out to tell me. I didn't even know he was in the bathroom.  I was so proud of him.  I think it really helps to have Maddeck as an example.
